Favorite vs. Legend

Carolina opened as a three point favorite over AFC champ Denver and that number as of this morning has swelled to over 6 .There is one golden rule to sports gambling and that is never bet with the public unless you’re betting on the 85 Bears. I can understand the fervor over betting the Panthers for the win as they have a tough defense and feature the probable MVP of the league in Cam Newton.  I don’t question their running game either as they have a healthy Jonathan Stewart at RB1. With that said don’t dismiss the Denver Broncos, their defense is quick to the ball and ferocious with a healthy pass rush. Peyton Manning has shown why he is still worthy of being slotted at QB1 .This most likely is his last game and legends hardly ever lose their last game.  I think this game will come down to two matchups- The Broncos OL vs. the Panther’s pass rush and the Panther’s secondary vs. Broncos pass targets. If the Broncos can keep Manning off the turf they will win as the Panther’s secondary is a slight weak point and they play a lot of deep zone coverage like most teams which is a Manning favorite. I’m not one to post a pick either way but I do like Denver in a close win, and how fitting would it be to have Manning toss a last second TD pass for the W. By the way, Norah Jones is not the greatest music to write to, I think I’ll pick the Allman brothers live at the Fillmore East for my next entry…

What do you think about the Serena Williams upset at the Australian Open?
